About Laura
A make up artist by training, Laura transformed into a leader supporting people from disadvantaged backgrounds and in their social and economical integration into the society.
In 2020, amidst a global pandemic and a surge of refugees from war-torn regions, Switzerland faced an unprecedented demand for food aid. Fuelled by a deep commitment to her community, Laura established Thanksgiver Schweiz, a food bank dedicated to addressing this urgent need. With the first food bank operational in Birsfelden, the impact started to show.
In 2021, Laura had continued to provide weekly food assistance to over 300 individuals and families in Basel. Her initiative quickly gained traction, leading to the opening of a second food bank in 2022, which expanded services to Muttenz and increased support to over 600 people.
In 2023, ThanksGiver flourished with the help of dedicated volunteers, expanding to four food banks across Zwingen and Muttenz Dorf, reaching more than 900 individuals. Additionally, two language schools were launched to empower those in need and foster community integration.
In 2024, ThanksGiver has expanded to seven food banks operating in Pratteln, Birsfelden, Muttenz, Zwingen and Liestal. Looking ahead, Laura is committed to developing new projects by expanding to eleven food banks, providing lunch service to the elderly and language learning classes.
**Our Mission:** Reduce the hunger gap and combat food waste.
